Did you know: friendship is God's way of loving us through someone else?

Food for thought! :)

I'm Back!

Hello all!

Yes, it's been quite awhile.

It seems like college, life, and a lot of other things took over my life - go figure, right? Well, I'm here to tell you that I'm going to try this blogging thing again. And this time, I have the support of a very loving boyfriend named Owen. :)

More information to come, but please comment below, and tell me any ideas you have for posts!

Starting the Fire - Who's to Blame?

Ever since I was a young child, art has always been a passion of mine. And, to fuel this passion, I always try to keep busy with some kind of art project. I'm not sure who lit up my interest in art, but I would like to thank whoever it was. This love of art is always going to be a fire that will never stop burning. :)

I have all kinds of crafts and paintings and drawings started (all of which I should be working on right now), but tonight is one of those lazy nights where I just don't feel like doing anything. Well...I guess I am technically "doing something" since I am sitting here writing...

Anyways!

With the help of Pinterest, I found a few insanely cool art projects that I'd like to try out someday:

  1. Newspaper Skyline Painting
First paint the sky as the background, then collage newspaper buildings over the canvas. Then, paint layers of tinted acrylic paints.

  2. Rolled Paper Vase
The basic idea is to roll magazine strips and hot glue them together. All kinds of things can be made with rolled paper or magazine strips.

  3. Painted Glasses
Get a paint brush and some acrylic paint, and use the back end of the brush to create dots on the glasses. Then, put the glasses into a cold oven and preheat it to 350 degrees. Let the glasses sit for 30 minutes, then turn the oven off and let it cool (with the glasses still inside).

  4. Tape Painting
This one is kind of self-explanatory. Just situate Scotch tape any way you want on the canvas, and have your way with the paint!

  5. Pendant Necklaces and Glass Magnets
You will have to go to this website to learn how to make these, but they're so cool!

I'm not sure how well a few of these projects will turn out, but you never know until you try. Hopefully I'll get to these projects soon, though.

Comment your thoughts on these projects, and as always, thanks for reading!

Bittersweet Ending

Hey guys.

Today is a sad, sad day. Why, you ask? No, there wasn't a death in the family. No, I didn't trip down the stairs and break an arm. Now you're wondering, what could it be?

Well, today...the very last episode of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries was posted.

For those of you who know what I'm talking about, you feel my pain/sorrow/sadness.

For those of you who don't, let me explain.

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a web series that adapted the popular novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen into a modern-day reality. I won't divulge too much information, but this series is definitely worth watching - even if you have never read Pride and Prejudice! The series is centered around 24-year-old grad student Lizzie Bennet who starts this vlog just as a rich med student, Bing Lee, moves into the neighborhood. If you want to know more, just go watch the first episode of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. It's definitely worth it.

The first episode of this series was posted on YouTube on April 9th, 2012, and the final (100th) episode was posted today, March 28th.

Oh how I will miss this series...Even though it's all over, I am happy that a friend brought the series to my attention. You know, I only just started watching these videos about two weeks ago.

For all of you that love this series as much as I do, I know you are sad to see it end, too. Comment below with your thoughts, favorite scenes, and anything else you'd like to share. Who was your favorite character? Which character could you have done without? Which episode did you keep replaying?

My personal favorite was episode 98. ;)

And with that, have a good night everybody.

Beginning of my Future?

Hello :)

Welcome to my new blog!

As I sit here writing this post on a tiny Acer Notebook, I wonder where this whole blogging thing will take me. I never really thought about blogging until recently - when I had to decide what to do with my future. I was scouring the Internet for answers, hoping to figure out what exactly I want to do.

Graduating high school will not only be an amazing moment in my life, but also a sad moment (even if I don't think so now). After I graduate...then what? That's the question that always seemed so far away, but now it's the only question I seem to ever be asked.

Anyways, at one point, the idea of blogging came across my mind. No, it's not a life-changing career. No, it's not going to pay every bill I'm going to have. But, it could lead to something. Something big. Money isn't what interests me in this aspect; it's more of the impact I may make on any given person. And that seed of hope is what led me to create this blog.

I don't know where this blog may take me, but I hope to make some new friends and make new memories. I hope you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoy writing them.

So here's to new beginnings, my friends.

And here's a special shout-out to O: Thank you for your support, encouragement, and love.

With love,

Simply Amanda
